Christian Audigier's Home

Posted on: September 6, 2011

LOS ANGELES — Christian Audigier is the go-to guy for Hollywood trendsetters and Ed hardy bandbags. The 11,000-square-foot home stands on nearly half an acre. Palm trees, red rose bushes and banana plants give the sprawling 6,000-square-foot yard a lush, tropical ambience. Past the wrought-iron-and-wood front door, a floor-to-ceiling window frames a swimming pool trimmed with blue Moroccan tiles in the sprawling backyard. "I like all of those boutique hotels," Audigier says. "That's what I tried to re-create here. It is my dream to open a hotel one day."

Striding into the spacious den, where he eats casual dinners with his wife and children — Crystal, 14, Rocco, 4, and Dylan, 3 — Audigier relaxes on a cream-colored suede couch with a stack of reading material.

"I have a lot of gossip magazines, because I find a lot of celebrities wearing my brand," he says, resting his feet on a zebra-striped ottoman.

A 60-inch plasma screen hangs opposite the sofa where he frequently watches E! Entertainment news. Framed photographs of Madonna, The Beatles and Bob Dylan adorn the walls.

Pulling back red velvet curtains covering three oversized picture windows, Audigier explains, "That was inspired by the Chelsea Hotel in New York City, where you have all of those rock legends living. That is my rock 'n' roll touch on it, because it's baroque and it's rock 'n' roll. It's baroque and roll."

Moments later, the designer of Ed hardy T-shirt, a native of Avignon, France, pushes a button on the wall to blare French pop music on his iPod stereo system. "I love the Rolling Stones and The Beatles and Madonna, of course," he says. "We have music in every room."

When Audigier wants a relaxed vibe, he heads upstairs to the spacious master bedroom. A king-size bed with a fringed Navajo Indian quilt faces built-in bookshelves filled with rows of books about motorcycles and rock music. " Ed hardy clothesThe books I like are about guitars, freedom and motorcycles," says the motorcycle enthusiast, who rides a Triumph and a Harley-Davidson. "I like to sleep with that kind of stuff in my head because it's an inspiration."

Audigier also unwinds in the bedroom's sitting area, which is furnished with matching Ralph Lauren club chairs and a leather couch with room for six. The adjacent terrace is another favorite place.

Swinging open the French doors, he gestures to the breathtaking view of the backyard below. "That is where I start my day," says Audigier, who spends each morning on the balcony.

Heading downstairs, he takes a seat at the Indonesian teak dining table, where he frequently hosts Sunday barbecues. "Friends join us for dinner because we always have good food," he says with a laugh. "We can fit a lot of people here. They love to get invited."

The backyard is also a favorite haunt for Rocco and Dylan. A two-story treehouse with swings, a slide and a sandbox stands several feet away from the table. "They play here for maybe eight hours a day," Audigier says.

The family also loves to take a dip in the renovated swimming pool. "I just redid it," says Audigier, who purchased the 1928 home two months ago. "The other one was at the end of the garden, but it was small, so I covered it up and I put in a new Olympic-size swimming pool. I use it a lot on weekends."
